Realmente abro mis ojos cuando tengo 12 años y descubro la fotografía. Nadie me enseña nada, hago fotos y las revelo yo misma buscando lo que funciona o lo que no, porque para mí lo importante es que esa foto me cuente una historia.
Llegué a la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información donde gracias a una profesora me puse en contacto con un Director de Fotografía, y luego con otro, y así entré en el mundo de meritoria de cámara a la vez que estudiaba la carrera. Madrid descubre la movida y yo el camino que quiero tomar en esta vida, termino la facultad y pongo rumbo al AFI (American Film Institute) donde realmente me educo como Cinematographer.
Amo mi profesión y me quedo 12 años trabajando allí, en el cine independiente, la publicidad, documentales y hasta una serie. Descubro en mí una nueva pasión, la Dirección y hago el acreditado curso, de nuevo en el American Film Institute: Director Workshop for Women. Ruedo mi primer corto, Nina, y tomo clases de actuación en el Stella Adler. Toda formación me parece poca para ser directora.
Bin Laden es la nueva estrella del rock, todo gira en torno al terrorismo y decido en estos tiempos convulsos volver a España donde trabajo principalmente en publicidad, pero mi otra vía se ha despertado y decido profundizar más en guión y dirección. Se estabiliza el digital, y aunque yo sea premio KodaK, de nuevo ruedo género pequeño mientras escribo mi guión.
Me eligieron presidenta de la AEC (Asociación Española de Directoras y Directores de Fotografía) y traje todo lo aprendido de la ASC de EEUU.
Actualmente sigo trabajando en mis guiones, y en mi trabajo en EEUU.
Está siendo un viaje apasionante, como lo es la vida.
I opened my eyes in the moment I discovered photography at the age of 12. Nobody taught me anything about it, I took my pictures and developed them myself looking for what works or not, because to me what is important is that the photographs tells a story.
I landed at the Communications School where I got in touch with a director of photography by mediation of one of my professors. Then I got in touch with another one, and that's how I got in the camera world, as an intern and a college student simultaneously. Madrid discovered la Movida and I found my path in life, so I finished my studies and headed to the American Film Institute (AFI) where I get educated as a cinematographer.
I loved my craft and ended up staying for 12 years working in the US, in independent filmmaking, advertising, documentaries and even a TV series. A new passion stem out from me: directing, so I took an accredited course Director Workshop for Women, again in the AFI. I shot my first short-film, Nina, and I took acting classes at the Stella Adler studio. All formation seemed not enough to be a director.
Eventually, Bin Laden became the new rockstar and everything span around terrorism, so in such a turmoil I decided to go back to Spain where I worked mainly in commercials as well as I went in depth in screenwriting and directing. Digital becomes the norm, and even though I was a Kodak Award recipient, I keep shooting as I worked my script.
In 2018 I was chosen president of the AEC (Spanish Society of Cinematographers), and I put in there all I learned at the ASC in the US.
I currently focus on working on my scripts, and on my work in the US.
It's being an exciting journey, as life itself.
